Key Components

The Save-A-Life Program consists of three key components: Engineering, Enforcement, and Education with
participation from a cross-functional team, ensuring innovation programs that are identifiable, reasonable and accountable.

Education
The York Region Health Services - Public Health Branch staff support the planning and implementation of a variety of initiatives. They work alongside officers during all of the TSSC campaigns. In addition, they conduct targeted educational and social marketing campaigns in schools, workplaces and the community that compliment the key themes of each month.

Enforcement
The York Regional Police work in partnership with the Canadian National Railway Police, GO Transit and the Ministry of Transportation. Strict, fair and highly visible enforcement is conducted on the sections of regional roadways identified by the Region of York Transportation and Works Department and complaints made by the general public.
Engineering
The Region of York Transportation and Works Department has, and will continue to identify sections of regional roadways that have the greatest potential for increased safety.
